The development trend of wireless technology

1、 WiFi
Although WiFi has existed for a long time, it is still one of the main high-performance network technologies in home and office from now to 2024. In addition to simple communications, WiFi will also be given new responsibilities, such as for radar systems or as part of a dual authentication system.
2、 5g cellular network
5g cellular network will be deployed in 2019 and 2020, and it will take 5-8 years to complete the deployment. This technology can sometimes be used as a complement to WiFi because it can provide high-speed data networks with higher cost performance for large places such as ports, airports and factories. 5g is still immature, and most network operators will initially focus on selling high-speed broadband. However, 5g standard is developing, and 5g applications in Internet of things and other fields will be improved through network iteration.
3、 Wireless Internet of vehicles (v2x) system
Traditional cars and autopilot vehicles need to communicate with road infrastructure separately, which will be realized through wireless vehicle networking system. In addition to exchanging information and status data, wireless Internet of vehicles can also provide security, navigation assistance, vehicle information entertainment and many other services.
Wireless Internet of vehicles system will become the "standard configuration" of all new cars in the future. But until then, only some vehicles are expected to adopt these agreements. And those wireless Internet of vehicles systems that use cellular networks must use 5g networks to realize their full potential.
4、 Long distance wireless charging
The first generation of wireless charging systems failed to deliver the revolutionary user experience expected by manufacturers. In terms of the user experience, placing the device at a specific charging point is only slightly better than charging through a charging line. And some new technologies can charge devices within a meter or on a desktop or table.
Remote wireless charging will eventually completely replace the charging line of desktop devices such as notebook computers, monitors, and even kitchen appliances, making it possible to design a new working and living space.
5、 Low power wide area (lpwa) network
Low power Wan is an energy-saving and low bandwidth network suitable for Internet of things applications, which can support devices requiring long battery life. The network generally covers cities, even the whole country and other super large areas. The current lpwa technologies include narrow band Internet of things (NB IOT), lte-m, Lora and sigfox. The modules of these technologies are relatively cheap, so IOT manufacturers can use them to enable small, low-cost battery powered devices such as sensors and trackers.
6、 Wireless sensor technology
Wireless signal is used in sensing technology because of its absorption and reflection characteristics. Wireless sensor technology can be used in robot and UAV indoor radar system. When there are many people talking in the same room, the virtual assistant can also use radar tracking technology to improve its recognition performance.
Sensor data is the "fuel" to drive the Internet of things. Therefore, new sensing technologies will bring innovative applications and service types. Wireless sensor and other systems will be used in medical diagnosis, object recognition, intelligent home interaction and many other fields.
7、 Enhanced wireless location tracking
The perception of the location of connected devices in wireless communication system is one of the important trends in wireless field. The ieee802.11az standard, which will be implemented soon, will realize high-precision tracking to about 1 meter, which will become one of the features of 5g in the future.
Location service is a key application in many business fields such as consumer oriented marketing, supply chain and Internet of things. For example, applications involving indoor robots and UAVs must have high-precision position tracking function.
8、 Millimeter wave wireless technology
Millimeter wave wireless technology can work in the frequency range of 30 GHz to 300 GHz and the wavelength range of 1 to 10 mm. Wireless systems such as WiFi and 5g can use this technology for short distance and large bandwidth communications (such as 4K and 8K video streams).
9、 Backscatter network
Backscatter network technology can send data with very low power consumption, which makes it the most suitable network for small networking devices. This feature is particularly important for applications that are located in wireless signal saturated areas and need relatively simple Internet of things devices, such as sensor applications in smart home and office.
10、 Software radio (SDR)
Software radio transfers most of the signal processing work in the radio system from chip to software, so it can support more frequencies and protocols. This technology has been introduced for many years, but it has not developed rapidly due to its higher price than special chip. With the emergence of the new protocol, software radio will become popular. Since few old protocols are obsolete, SDR will enable devices to support old protocols and enable new protocols only through software upgrades.
